I am thrilled to announce today the very first giveaway at Tids & Bits!

Have you met Edie?  If you haven't you should.

There are people we come across in our lives that leave us changed.

People who inspire, people who teach, people who whisper quiet truths.

Sometimes they speak to us in lyrics and in ancient hymns.  Sometimes their voice comes through books we read, published long ago but still relevant today.

And often times today, they speak to us from blogs, Twitter feeds, and Facebook accounts.  Maybe that is our modern form of the "great conversation".

Edie's blog Life in Grace is the very first blog I ever read "cover-to-cover".  She is one gifted lady, who shares generously and transparently the good days, the bad days, and the unspeakably bad days.  And through that sharing she has inspired many...least of all, me.

Needless to say I was extremely excited to learn that Edie wrote her very own ebook!  31 Days to a Heart of Hospitality is an expansion of the 31 day series she wrote in October 2012.  I couldn't wait to buy my copy and devoured it little by little last week.  It does not disappoint!

In Edie's own words...
Hospitality isn’t about inviting people into our perfect homes, it’s about inviting them into our imperfect hearts.
"It’s about learning to live from that vulnerable place where we open ourselves to love... This is hospitality, on purpose."
I could not agree more.

And now to the GIVEAWAY!  Edie is generously giving two of my readers their very own copy of her ebook.  The giveaway will be open starting today and will end Friday, February 11th at midnight.  I will use random.org to pick the winners.  To enter please leave a comment below telling me what the word "hospitality" means to you.  One comment = one entry, one entry per individual, please.  Annnnd, if you are impatient like me, you can purchase your own copy here and start reading now.

Happy Sunday, friends.  :)

  1. I love entertaining, and sometimes my home looks like a tornado happened but it's more in the kitchen then in our living room since I don't allow toys in there.

    1. I hear you Kali! It can be so hard to contain the kid clutter, but it's so worth it to continue to open our homes and hearts to our friends and families.

    1. Love this! Sometimes I think we make entertaining harder on ourselves that it needs to be. :)

  3. I'm from the south..so we are all about hospitality. And to have a community of people to share in the things you love and that matter to you is wonderful. Sounds like a great read.

  4. I think this quote about biblical hospitality is really interesting: "Entertaining others to eat and to stay was important for the people of the Bible; the urge to give hospitality seems to have been rooted in their experience of nomadic life. Nomadic people are conscious of the loneliness of the desert and that the provision of food is often a matter of life and death. Because Esau was too weak to prepare a meal for himself after he had been hunting, his brother, Jacob, was able to extract the birthright from him (Genesis 25:29-34). Even an enemy could not be allowed to die of hunger. Paul wrote, "If your enemy is hungry, feed him" (Romans 12:20), and he was repeating what was always done among nomadic people."

So hospitality is not just entertaining friends...but entertaining strangers as though they were Christ himself!

    1. I love this quote, and it reminds me of how differently we view hospitality today. Today it seems to be more about putting on a show of perfection rather than focusing on serving and loving others. Thank you so much for sharing this, Laura! :)
